Background

Habib Ullah Khan

“I took on the problems of my life, and it created engagement and meaning in my life.”

Senior Engineer at QT

Habib had a wealth of options and technical skills at his disposal, but he was not satisfied in any of his previous jobs. He felt unfulfilled and unmotivated to get up in the morning and go to work. He was in a career crisis and questioning whether he was in the right profession, if he even liked technology, and if he was a good engineer. He was in search of meaning and purpose in his life.

“Before The Power Course, my whole struggle in life was a lack of dignity in my job. I didn't stand up for myself. It was the stage of my life where I was undecided. I was in a crisis. I was at a startup that was too overwhelming. I was doing my regular job, but I had no interest in it. I was looking for meaning in my work and wondering, what should I do with my life? Am I in the right career?”

Breakthrough

During his participation in The Power Course, Habib worked tirelessly to uncover his roadblocks, catch unsupportive moods, and generate new possibilities in his family, health, and work. He learned how to advocate for himself and recognize when things were not working and how to mobilize the team around him to make changes. Habib learned how to "kill being nice" and instead become a leader who affected positive change in both his team, the products he helped build, and the organization he worked in.

During The Power Course, Habib received two promotions and saw a 4x increase in salary within the first few months of the program. He got a new position, changed cities, and received another promotion, doubling his salary. More importantly Habib found meaning and joy in his work again and took much larger responsibility for his work than ever before. He shifted his perception of his role of an engineer to the one of being a builder of humanity’s shared future.

Today, Habib has become a real changemaker and is using his skills and knowledge not only at work but also to make a profound impact in his local community. For these remarkable achievements, he has been recognized with the prestigious Changemakers Award.
