Knocking at the Door of Opportunity

A short poem, a medicine for the paralysis that waits until everything is certain before it will move.

Dear friend,

Here is a short poem I wrote to encourage you to take bold new action, especially in a direction that is not all worked out yet, but where you sense there is something possible. It is a medicine for the analysis-paralysis that refuses to move until it is sure everything will work out. As André Gide said, you cannot discover new lands until you are willing to lose sight of the shore for a very long time.

So here is the poem.

Just knock at the door of opportunity.
Don’t worry about the door opening, or not opening.
Don’t worry about rushing into the house.
It is alright if you must wait a while.
Nothing is ever guaranteed. No situation is permanent.
Be seductive, be provocative, be distinctive.
And just knock. Make the call, write to the person.
You have no idea what door might open, or what might emerge.
Just knock at the door of opportunity.

With care,Saqib
